The Third Series is called "Sthira Bhava," or "steady devotion," because that is precisely what the practice demands.
In this course, we explore the rhythm and flow of the Third Series, including not only the postures, but the dynamic sequences of breath, movement and awareness to which they belong. We develop strategies for working constructively with difficult forms, and we adapt the postures where necessary to our unique bodies and circumstances.
Each session includes a 2.5+ hour practice of asana, pranayama and meditation, followed by 2 hours of workshop.
Ty has an unwavering love for this unique somatic discipline, which he began practicing back in 2005. Drawing on his formal background in philosophy (PhD University of Virginia), Ty has an unusual power for illuminating the internal dynamics of yoga. He sees yoga as conscious participation in archetypal patterns of human development, which he is ever drawn to explore.
