

We will draw mind and body together through meditative vinyasa flow in preparation for restorative postures. Supported by blankets, blocks and bolsters, these postures are held for several minutes, allowing the body and mind to melt into the present moment. The result is balance, nourishment and restfulness.

This Workshop will introduce the Theravaden Buddhist practice of Vipassana, commonly known in the West as Insight Meditation. The teachings will come from the Satipatthana Sutta, one of the Buddha’s primary discourses on mediation practice. Beginning with the focus on the breath, students will gradually expand their in-the-moment awareness to include body sensations, emotions, and thoughts. There will be both sitting and walking meditation, as well as basic Buddhist philosophy and psychology that puts the practice into the context of everyday life.
